Bensalem Township, in Bucks County, PA was the first municipality in our area to take advantage of the opportunity to "try out" vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). This was made possible through the generosity of the Honda, FuelMakerTM and General Motors Municipality Outreach and Demonstration Program. View information about the demonstration program (PDF) Additional discounts and rebates are available to Clean Cities stakeholders through the "Clean Connections" program, also offered by Honda and FuelMakerTM Read more about "Clean Connections" (PDF) Our friends in Bensalem were so impressed by their trial that they have decided to incorporate CNG vehicles into their fleet, and to install a FuelMakerTM unit of their own for on-site refueling. The effort was recently highlighted in a Bucks County Courier Times article. Read the article. Steven Noll, Deputy Director of the Bucks County Transportation Management Association, presented a PowerPoint explanation of Bensalem's model at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Clean Cities Conference. The presentation is available for view online: It's a Gas! The CNG Vehicle Pilot Program. Further news of the program is available on the website for the Bucks County TMA. With the assistance of the Bucks County TMA, the FuelMaker demonstration is slated to spend time in several other Bucks County townships and municipalities in 2005. If this program is of interest to you, please view the PDF files above and contact the appropriate parties to ensure that your area is given this opportunity as soon as possible.
